Wanna See My New Baby??

This baby was my Christmas present from my dear hubby. My old suburban was just not very dependable anymore, so we bit the bullet & bought a "new" used vehicle. She holds a ton of goodies~perfect for the thrift stores and antique shops. And she will come in handy when Marie aka Old Lady Morgan & I finally meet up & have a day of power shopping. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm planning on having her show me where all the great estate sales are. Although maybe we will take her vehicle & try to shove all our goodies in that. I hear she's really good at figuring out how to get oversized packages into smaller vehicles. Hehe!!

Have a wonderful day my friends! I'm off to do some creating.

Busy Day...New Valentine Goodies

Happy Friday!! Today was a day off work, so I decided to finally make some goodies. I made this bowl of hearts & a few others from an old quilt that I had laying around. Each one is unique. They all are about 4 inches. I wrapped some grungy cheesecloth around each one and attached a tag with a rusty crusty jingle bell & rusty pin. They look wonderful in a wooden bowl.

Here are some close up shots. Remember, I'm a terrible photographer, so these look much better in person.

#1 says Be Mine

#2 says Valentine

#3 says Cutie pie

#4 says Love

Christmas Gifts

Good afternoon friends. Seems like I'm posting less & less these days. And would you like to know the reason??? Can anyone guess??? It'a a new addiction of mine~Pinterest. Yep~I've been spending hours on the site. I love it, but I'm not getting a thing done. I look at what all of you are making & I'm so jealous. I don't have the will power to turn off the computer.

So I'm finally showing a couple of goodies I got this year for Christmas. The first is an original Jackie Schmitt angel I found in an antique mall before Christmas. She is a tree topper. She was only $12.00!! I scooped her right up before Mom saw her. I told myself I wasn't going to buy anymore Christmas stuff, but couldn't resist.

And at the same antique mall I found this beauty. Mom bought it for me for Christmas. I have a "thing" for old boxes & cubbies & couldn't resist. Love it!! Thank you Mom!! It's wood & has metal drawers. I don't know what it was used for, but it's mine now!!

So besides hanging out all the time on Pinterest, I haven't been doing much of anything else. I'm back to working overnights this week. We're getting ready for the new Spring clothing line to come in. This week if camo clothing & the next couple of weeks will be the casual clothing lines. I'm not a fan of working the night shift. Good thing it's only a few weeks a year.

Take care my friends. Time to start cooking dinner & then it's off to work. Have a great week!!

For Mary

Good morning blogging friends~

I had a request a few weeks ago for a better picture of this quilt. So~this one's for Mary. I just wanted you all to know that I do read all your comments. I'm just really bad about responding back to you. I have the best intentions, but get distracted easily.

Anyhoo~about the quilt. It's an older pattern by Sandy Gervais called Pineapple Pie. The pattern is still available if any of you are interested in making one for yourselves. It's a pretty easy quilt to put together. If I remember right, it took me a weekend to piece the top. I made this one about 5 or 6 years ago & it still is one of my favorites.

Not too much going on here. I've been busy at work with inventory & getting settled in my new position. I still have much to learn.

Hoping to get my creating groove back soon.

Have a wonderful day~Becky

Baking Day

Last night was inventory night at my job, so I spent the day yesterday baking cookies for all my coworkers. I figured we would need a little chocolate to make it through the long night. Inventory started at 5 p.m. and we were finished by 2:20 a.m. It was a long night. The cookies were a much needed chocolate fix!!

Here is the recipe if any of you would like to try making a batch.

Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup water

2 1/2 cups flour

2 cups chocolate chips

Cream shortening & sugar. Beat in the eggs. Add vanilla, salt, baking soda, water & mix in. Mix in flour. Stir in chocolate chips. Bake at 325 for 12-14 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack. Enjoy!!

Spending the day relaxing & catching up on blogs.

Have a wonderful day~Becky
