Pumpkin Man

Good Morning Friends~

I've had to work for the last couple of days, so I haven't done too much. My son came home from camp so I had that mess to clean up too. It rained most of the time he was in camp so everything was wet. Lots of washing & drying out. His cot & sleeping bag even got wet (his friend left the tent window open one day).

I did manage to finish these pumpkin guys though. I love how they turned out. The are from a pattern by Chestnut Junction (all fall patterns are on sale until the end of the month.)

This is the one I decided to keep for myself.

I've been trying to clean out at least one thing a day when I'm not working & today is Stephen's closet. I picked the smallest to tackle first. After that is done, I'll be working on another craft project.

Have a wonderful day~Becky

On a Roll with Using up the Stash

Happy Friday All~

I've been on a mission to use up some of the things that I have bought at thrift stores & rummage sales over the years & have stashed in various cabinets around my home. It's been hot, hot, hot the last few days, so it has been a perfect time to do some painting.

I love how this first piece turned out. I'm usually partial to painting my things black, but decided to use a cream color on this. And going with my use it up theme, I used an old ugly green paint as a base coat. After it was dry, I of course had to rub some Colonial Walnut stain on it. (Colonial walnut stain goes on everything!!)

I've had this spice cabinet for a couple of years now (it's not an antique so I didn't mind painting it). It was also painted a cream color & stained. It is now on my kitchen wall. I need to decorate it yet, but decided to show it off anyway.

A set of bowls I painted 4 different colors of blue. Wanted to keep these, but they went into the sell box.

An old tote with a belt handle. Also added to the sell pile.

Candle holder that I painted black.

I added some fall flowers (also from my stash) & a little spanish moss. Really like this, but sadly it is also going into the sell box.

Working on some dollies today. I don't have to worry about making dinner tonight. Stephen is in camp, Cody has to work, & hubby is gone till very late.

Hubby went with a buddy to a filming of "Pinks All Out". His buddy is racing in the show. He should have a fun day.

Off to enjoy the day!!
Have a wonderful weekend all~Becky

Meet Annie

Good Morning Friends!!

I'd like you to meet Annie. I finished her up yesterday. Annie is made from a Jackie Schmidt pattern. I think she may get an apron with some sweet annie sprigs yet. In her lap is little orphie. Orphie was a gift made by my mom. I'm not sure of the pattern designer on Orphie.

Have a wonderful day!! I need to get creating, so the computer is staying off for the rest of the day!!

Wash Stand Table & New Bench

Happy Tuesday Blogging Friends. It's going to be a hot & muggy day today. I wish I could just stay home & enjoy the air conditioning, but I told my friend I would go with her to pick up her new furniture I helped her pick out yesterday.

Speaking of furniture... I have my wash stand table mostly decorated. I'm thinking I need to add some little quilts or penny rugs yet, but I don't have anything done that will work, so I need to make something. Here is what it looks like so far...

My newly redone tote filled with goodies...

Little cubby display that came from my dining room. I'm redoing another cabinet to put in the cubby's recently vacated space.

Back of the little cubby. I'm seeing some kind of make do or little dolly on the pantry boxes & little quilt under the boxes. I guess I need to get to work.

Much used baking items. I'm always baking something, so these need to be within easy reach. I would like to make the masher in the background into a make do (another thing on my "need to make for me" list.

I bought this bench on my last trip to the antique mall. It fits perfectly in front of my brick chimney in my kitchen.

More goodies on top.

Close up...

Another...

I'll have to post pics of my thrift store finds tomorrow because it's almost time to pick up furniture.

Stay cool~Becky

Happy First Day of Summer, some redos, & more

Good Afternoon Friends. Happy first day of Summer. It's sunny & warm here right now, but we're expecting rain later today.

Remember the goodies I bought at Yore Country Home? They are in their new home. The grubby cubby is in my kitchen. It found it's home on top of an antique cabinet just inside my back door.

A close up pic of the cubby. Did you notice that I decided to keep one of my candle paddles?

I grunged up this little bag that I had laying around and added a wooden masher.

A close up of the top of the cubby. I'm not sure if I am happy with this yet, but I will leave it for now. I'm always tweaking my things, so it may change.

This prim basket also came from Yore. I originally bought it to go on the door of the wardrobe in my dining room, but it didn't really show up against the wood :( I ended up hanging it on a peg shelf in my dining room. I didn't get a picture of the whole grouping, but I'll make sure to show you that within the next couple of days. I added my grungy wax chunk & I pinkeep that I stitched up in the top pocket. In the bottom pocket, I added a butter paddle & some old textile bobbins. I'm thinking I need to add something else, but I'm not sure what. Maybe a prim little textile of some kind~any ideas?

A close up of the pinkeep. This is another freebie design from Betty of primitivebettys .

This snowman wreath was my challenge item to myself to use up some of my stuff. I made the snowman from an Olde Country Cupboard pattern & attached him to this wreath (pulled out of a cabinet & now used up). Visit Sandy at the Olde Country Cupboard for lots of ideas & some wonderful patterns.

This wooden tote was a weekend redo. My dad picked it out of his neighbors burn pile & asked me if I wanted it. I scooped it right up~I don't know why my mom didn't want it. It was a bright green. I decided to paint it barn red. I painted right over the green, sanded it, & stained it with colonial walnut stain. Love it!!

Oops. Another view.

I bought this wash stand on my last trip to the antique mall. Notice my $1 doll bed underneath. I did add the mattress. Well, anyway, I decided to make this stand into a table for my kitchen.

Hubby & I went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore. We didn't find anything except this old piece of wood~only $1.15. Not bad~I loved the old patina. It must have come from the roof of an old house cuz it still had a few staples in it with roofing felt attached. Hubby cut it in half & I sanded it a little bit & added two coats of poly to the top.

Here is the finished product. I just love how it turned out & I will be able to fold it down & use it for display for my craft show goodies when the time comes. I spent most of the day yesterday decorating it. I'll make sure to show those pics soon.

Hope you all are having a wonderful day. I spent the day with a friend helping her pick out furniture, shopping, & hitting the thrift stores. I came home with lots of goodies again. I'll show you some soon.

Candles & More Candles

Happy Friday!! It's supposed to be a hot humid day today so I'm going to do a quick update this morning so I can hit some yard sales before it gets unbearable.

I should just stay home cuz I have so much stuff already, but those undiscovered goodies are calling to me. LOL

Speaking of goodies, I'm gonna show you what I worked on yesterday after cleaning out some cabinets.

I had a bunch of votive candles, so I grubbied a pile of them up. After making them all pretty, I tied some sweet annie to them some jute. These I put in little pans that I found while cleaning.

A close up...

More candles... This time I added them to little paddles. These started out as drink coasters. I painted them different colors & added the candles. Love them!

A close up....

Then I came across this little watering can I bought for around .25 & added some flowers that were left over from another project.

I have challenged myself to  use up at least one item a day that I have stashed away in a cubby. I did pretty good yesterday. Now I have to figure out what I want to use up today. Hey, I just might find something at the yard sales today (then I won't have to open those cubby doors).

Enjoy your day!!

Hugs~Becky

Prim Perfection... I couldn't stop drooling

I went on a road trip with my Mom yesterday & it was GREAT!!! We usually take a road trip to the Spring Green quilt shop at least once a year, and yesterday was the day we did just that. Before we headed off to the quilt shop though, we decided to check out a prim shop that I had heard about on another blog (sorry, but I don't remember who the blogger was, but I would really like to thank that person for directing us to this store).

We were at Yore Country Home. Click on the store name to visit Theresa's blog. Girls if you are anywhere near this store or are traveling to Wisconsin, you MUST visit Theresa (make sure to have your drool bibs handy)!! The store is awesome!!! We didn't even make it into the store before the drooling began.

Inside of store~a nice prim Americana display.

Don't you just love this chair? I do & someday I will have furniture like this, but for now I can only dream. I could have stayed in this wonderful shop all day. I hope you all liked the sneak peek. Go visit~you won't be disappointed. There are many unique pieces & the store is much bigger than I thought it would be. Make sure to bring your measurements, because you will want to take something home with you!!

These are the goodies I purchased. A nice prim basket...

A grungy little cubby...

And a grubby wax chunk...

Check in later for pics of where these wonderful goodies landed in my home.

I would have loved to bring home some antique pieces, but I'm out of space (although I may be replacing some of my pieces~there were a couple of things I can't stop thinking about.

We also went to the Country Sampler Quilt shop in Spring Green & JJ Stitches Quilt shop in Sun Prairie, but didn't find anything in either shop this time.

I'm off again today~so I'll be cleaning out some cabinets & working on some new dollies.

Enjoy the day~Becky

Tin Can Challenge Revealed

Good Morning Everyone~

Today is reveal day for the tin can challenge over at Donna's blog. First check out my challenge item, then head over there to check out the other finished goodies. We all started with this wonderful tin can.

I covered my can with some gold & black homespun, tea stained it, & rubbed some cinnamon to make it a little bit grubbier.

Stitched up a prim Sunflowers stitchery.

Then added 3 grubby sunflowers that I made. I finished it up by adding a little spanish moss as a filler.

I think I may add a grubby little crow to the mix yet, but for now it's done.

I'm off on a day trip today. My mom & I are heading off to two of our favorited quilt shops, & then on to a prim store I found on another bloggers site. I'll update on the trip tomorrow. Have a wonderful day prim friends.

Hugs~Becky

Gloomy Sunday & a Pinkeep

Here's hoping you all are having a joyous Sunday. It's raining & gloomy here today. I've been working the past couple of days, so I didn't accomplish much. Once I get home, I don't feel much like creating, so I have been doing some cleaning. I did manage to finish this punch needle pinkeep. I love this idea. I will be making more of these pinkeeps. I have lots of ideas going through my mind. This pattern came from the new Create & Decorate magazine. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to make it. This one will be for my mom. She's the sheep lover. I will be making myself one with a crow on it. I just love crows.

The directions have you attaching the pinkeep to the spool, but I decided to make it a separate piece. The pinkeep portion has a dowel on the bottom, so that it fits on top of the spool & stays on.

It's time to think about making dinner, so I best be off. I also need to start working on my tin can challenge for Sweet Prairie Dwellings Blog. Be watching, I will be posting pics on Wednesday. Have a great evening!!

Hugs~Becky
