Another Redo

Good Morning~
I was shopping at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago & came across this wonderful little doll crib. I thought "How Cute" &  walked away because I just can't bring anymore stuff home. I went home without it~good girl right? Well, later that day I was talking to my mom about my nieces upcoming birthday & she tells my she bought an American Girl Bitty Baby doll. Well.....what goes with a new dolly? Why a new crib of course. So back to the thrift store I go and guess what? They were having a 50% off sale. This is a picture of the bed before.

After a couple of coats of paint. Ta Da!! A nice little birthday present. I also added a little mattress. Prim lover that I am, I wanted to scruff it up and add some stain & tea stain the mattress, but my sister is not into prim and would have thought I was crazy to give her daughter a grubby old bed.

I still have to scape the paint of the metal rails, but other than that, this little crib is ready to go.

Have a great day~Becky

A quilting we will go...

I had a wonderful day today. It was my turn to host our weekly sewing group. I didn't have to go out in the cold and I got to sew with a great group of ladies. This is my mom showing off her little Tree of Life block. This is going to be a little quilt. There are only 6 blocks in the whole quilt, but it sure has plenty of pieces. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it is done in all fall colors. It will be gorgeous when it is finished. Love her face~she wanted to know why I was taking pictures. I just smiled!!

This next pic is Joyce at her sewing machine. She is making placemats. She embroidered fall leaves on each one. Her taste isn't as prim as mine, but these were wonderful anyway!!

The little quilt top is mine.  I finished putting it together today.  Now I have to quilt it. Colors are red, black, and tan. I can't wait to finish it.

We had a wonderful lunch of soup & salad and for dessert we had this Raspberry Chocolate Trifle. Yummy!! Cody's girlfriends mom had a Pampered Chef party and I had to have their trifle bowl, so I decided to treat the girls to a tasty dessert.  Recipe below. This is very easy to make!!

Raspberry Chocolate Trifle

2 Cups cold milk
1 package instant chocolate pudding
1 frozen pound cake (thawed)
2 cups raspberries (I used frozen & thawed them)
1 cup raspberry jam
1 8oz. cool whip

Make pudding according to package directions. Set aside.
Cut pound cake into 1" cubes. Place 1/2 in bottom of your glass bowl. Set aside other half for later.  Stir together raspberries & jam. Spoon 1/2 of this mixture onto cake cubes in bowl. Top with half of the prepared pudding. Top pudding with half of the cool whip. Repeat all layers. Chill until ready to serve.

This is super simple. No cooking required unless you want to bake your own pound cake.

Our family will be leaving this Friday evening for a vacation in Florida. We will be going to Disney. It was kind of a spur of the moment trip for us. This will probably be our last family vacation in a long time. We are excited but also sad. Cody will be turning eighteen on February 11th and is wanting to do his own thing, so I'm not sure if there will be any more vacations in the future. We are taking the boys out of school & will be driving down. We're going to spend 5 days in the parks & them head back home. Hoping the weather stays warm down there.

I sure am going to miss checking out my favorite blogs as the computer will not be traveling with us. I plan on spending the whole first day back checking out what I've missed.

Have a great week!!

Happy Sunday & a Redo

Good evening everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful week end. I've been busy cleaning and getting ready to host my sewing group tomorrow. I did manage to finish up a couple of projects. I'm taking a few minutes between mopping floors and doing dishes to show one of the things I finished today.  I bought this little cabinet at a local antique mall a couple months ago for $5.

After scuffing up the finish, I painted it a flat black.

Rubbed it with some wax and painted over the black with black cherry.

Rubbed some more wax on & painted camel.  Sanded for that wonderful prim look & stained with Minwax colonial walnut stain.  I put the original knob back on and had hubby hang it up in my kitchen.  I just love how it turned out. I'm not sure about what I have on this little cabinet. I'm looking for ideas & would love to have your input on what should go on this little cabinet.  What do you think would look nice on this?  I think I'll go check out some other blogs for ideas.

Until next time~

Meet Romeo

Happy Friday everyone!! Hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far. I don't decorate too much for Valentine's day, but I thought you might enjoy a picture of my little Romeo mouse. He's all ready for love in his little heart pocket made from an antique quilt.  I made him last year and he's out of the box to visit for the next month or so. I have him hanging from the knob on my old cabinet in my dining room for all my visitors to enjoy.

I've been very busy lately working and then coming home to help my son complete his paperwork so he can finally finish up his Eagle project for scouts. He's been bugging to get a job so he has spending money, but I keep telling him he has to finish this project up first. So....the past couple of days I've been trying to get him motivated to finish up. He's having a real problem with finishing because he hates to do reports of any kind & that is what he needs to finish.

I love to come home & read my favorite blogs. I think I could spend hours checking out blogs. I can't believe it took me so long to find this. Now I need to start posting a little more often. I find it much more fun to read than to post. I'm sure many of you feel the same way, but on the flip side if people didn't post, there wouldn't be anything to read. So my New Years resolution is to try to post more often. I'll try my best!!

Have a great week-end!!

Sewing with the girls

Happy Monday Everyone!!  Hope your week is starting off on a good note.  I had a wonderful day sewing with my mom and two other friends.  We've been quilting together for the last 2 years & I look forward to it each week.  We travel from house to house, quilt together, have lunch, and have show & tell. This picture is of my mom(on the left) and Judy checking out my mom's latest project.
Joyce made a wonderful wallhanging for winter.  It turned out so nice. She used her new needle felting machine to stitch down the wool pieces and used paint pens for the leaves and the some of the detail work.  She is so proud!!This is Judy's project.  She is working on a lap quilt.  Here she has laid out all her completed blocks and is getting ready to sew her quilt top together.

I had a wonderful start to my week.  I loved getting together with the girls.

Have a wonderful week!

A Dog's Life...

Good Evening~

It seems like it was just yesterday that I posted. My how the time flys by. As I sit on the sofa this Sunday evening, I think of all we've done this week. Tim and I took down the last of the Christmas lights and put everything away until next year.  We cleaned out the basement to make room for my new washer & dryer that was our family Christmas present.  Cody, the oldest son, spent a lot of hours working on his paperwork to try to finish up his Eagle Scout project. Stephen, the little guy, spent a lot of time on the computer playing video games. Zoey, the spoiled doggy, has become adddicted to watching the boys play on the computer. I'm still working full time hours at work & keep hoping they will cut our hours pretty soon. I've been so tired that I haven't been sewing or crafting at all & I am really missing it. I really am enjoying seeing all of your finished projects.  I really like the cross stitched projects. I don't cross stitch, but am thinking about trying it.  I've seen so many things that I would like for my home. Tomorrow is my day off and I will be quilting with my mom and two other friends. We have quilted together on Mondays for the last 2 years and it is a nice day out.  This is the first time we will be getting together this year and I think we are all looking forward to it. I will leave you with a couple of pictures of Zoey checking out the game on my laptop.
Have a great week!!

Good evening~

Hope everyone has had a nice Monday. I had the day off work today and decided it was time to take down my Christmas decorations. I got most of it done~just a few things left to put away. I decided that I may as well dig out my Valentines Day stuff. I don't have too much, so it didn't take long to decorate. Cleaning took forever though!! I have 2 trees that I leave out year round. One is a little 2 foot tree that stays  in my Eagle crock. This is what is pictured. I needle punched the eagle a couple of years ago & love it. I decorate this little tree for each season or holiday. My other tree is a 6 foot alpine tree that sits in my dining room. I also decorate this tree for each season.

I have very simple hearts on this little tree. Each heart has a rusty pin & rusty bell on the front of the heart. Hope you enjoyed the pic of my little Valentine tree.

Have an enjoyable week!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from the Schneider Family!!
Wow! It's hard to believe I've been gone so long. It's been a busy couple of weeks. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a wonderful holiday season. We visited lots of family & friends. We also took a few day and went up to my parent's cabin to go snowmobiling.  We don't get to go too often, so when we get a chance to go, we grab it. Tim & the boys were off the week after Christmas and I only had to work on Monday & Tuesday, so we took off for the great white north. It was beautiful riding in the woods and because we were up during the week, we had the trails mostly to ourselves. The trees were covered in snow and we even got to see some deer.

Till next time~Becky
